- Feed LTC into a mic/line input — a sync box, Tentacle/Lockit out, or the generator on another device.
- The reader disables AGC, noise suppression & echo cancellation on the input — those mangle the bitstream. If the OS still has an input "enhancement" on, turn it off.
- Aim for a meter reading in the green. Too hot clips the edges; too quiet drops bits.
- Uploaded WAVs are decoded in full, immediately on upload — the timecode shown is read from that offline pass, not from live playback, so muting or pausing the player never affects the read.
- 23.98 vs 24 (and 29.97 vs 30) can't be told apart from a short listen — the reader shows the family + the DF flag, and a measured estimate.
- Needs microphone permission. If the browser blocks mic on a local file, serve it over http://localhost instead.
